Search Tips

Make sure your search terms are spelled correctly. The search engine will attempt to find words that sound similar to your search terms, but it is always best to try to spell the search terms correctly.

Lowercase words will match any case and will also search for German and English instrument names. For example, typing piano will return all documents containing the words piano, Piano, and PIANO as well as klavier, and Klavier. However, typing Piano will only search for Piano. Entering schlagzeug or percussion will search for several percussion instruments such as marimba, trommel, etc... Searching for marimba will also find schlagzeug, percussion, becken, etc... To search for one instrument only, begin with uppercase: Marimba .

Use quotation marks to find words which must appear adjacent to each other, for example, "flöte und tonband," Otherwise, the search results will include the word flöte, und, and the word tonband, but not necessarily in that order. The words may appear anywhere, and in any order, within the web site.

Wildcard searches can expand the number of matches for a particular request. The * character is used as the wildcard character. For instance, searching for wh* will find the words what, why, when, whether, and any other word that starts with wh. Searching for *her* will find the words here, whether, together, gathering, and any other word that contains her anywhere in the word.

The results show the pages on which the search terms were found. The summaries do not necessarily indicate each instance of a term on a page.
